Bring Me The Horizon and Yungblud’s Obey wins Annie Mac’s Hottest Record of the Year 2020!
Bring Me The Horizon’s song Obey, the collaboration with Yungblud has been crowned as Annie Mac’s Hottest Record of the Year 2020, announced tonight in a special edition of BBC Radio 1’s Future Sounds. Listeners were able to vote for their favourite tracks via the Radio 1 website and via social media.
Bring Me The Horizon and Yungblud released Obey in September of this year after first hinting at a collaboration back in July. It premiered on Radio 1 as Annie Mac’s Hottest Record on September 2nd, and shot to Number 1 in the UK’s Official Rock and Metal Singles chart the following week.
“We’re so grateful. It’s incredible, absolutely incredible. I think it’s a big moment for us and I think it feels like an exciting moment for rock. It’s probably been a really long time since a rock song made it to a position like this so it’s super cool. Amazing way to end the year so thank you for all the support,” reacts Bring Me The Horizon’s singer Oli Sykes.
Annie Mac, the BBC Radio 1 presenter comments: “Obey from the outset was a really exciting record. Two artists at totally different stages in their careers collaborating for the first time, huge mutual respect between them, and both of them pushing the boundaries of what they already do. The combination of Yungblud’s enthusiasm and energy, and Oli’s experience and vision makes this track a perfect collaboration. It’s also a really big moment for rock music and I’m really happy that a track like this could win Hottest Record of the Year.”
The top five Hottest Records of the Year 2020 are:
・Bring Me The Horizon ft. Yungblud – Obey
