Hailing from a small town outside Glasgow, Lewis Capaldi made his full-length debut with 2019’s release of Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent, that emerged as the year’s biggest album in the UK. With over four million adjusted albums sold worldwide, combined global streams for Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent are now approaching 10 billion.

Before You Go follows Capaldi’s breakthrough hit single Someone You Loved, which also topped both the Billboard Pop Songs and Radio Songs charts for three weeks October-November 2019. After 37 weeks on the Pop Songs chart, having debuted on the chart the week of January 18th, Before You Go, also makes history as the longest climb to the top since the chart began in 1992.

Showcasing his powerful vocals and poignant songwriting, the song was inspired by Capaldi’s aunt, who committed suicide when he was a young boy.

Before You Go is both the most honest and personal song I’ve ever written. It’s about loss, regrets, and the fear that we sometimes never understand what someone is going through despite our best want to be everything that person needs,” says singer.
