Massive Attack, Skillet and more announced for Rock for People 2016!
The legendary band, Massive Attack, has become the headliner at Rock for People 2016. The founders of trip hop will come to Hradec Kralove with new EP Ritual Spirit which was released in January this year. Rock for People will take place from 3rd to 5th July 2016. The festival have also added to line up boys and girls from Memphis – Skillet: platinum disc holders for their album ‘Awake’, winners at the Billboard Music Awards, nominated for several Grammy Awards, millions of views on YouTube… They’ll be coming back to the Czech Republic after 2 years since their latest performance in Břeclav.
Since they got together in 1996 they have undergone several changes in their line-up. The current composition of John Cooper (founding member), Korey Cooper, Jen Ledger and Seth Morisson stabilised in 2011, and two years later they released the album ‘Rise’. They are currently in the studio working on a new album.
John Coffey, a Dutch band from Utrecht, took their name from a character in Stephen King’s The Green Mile book. This quintet will please fans of rolling, compact rock and roll, with forays into punk and hardcore. In their music you will hear the undeniable influence of Motörhead. They’ve released 4 albums in the past 6 years, with the latest offering, The Great News, being released to the world last year. 2013 was a breakthrough year for the band, playing 130 concerts as part of the Vans Warped Tour and making themselves known.
Grunge-pop band Otherkin – Luke, Conor, David and Rob, drawn together by a shared love of bands like The Clash, QOTSA, Ramones and Blur. Four Dubliners started their carriers with gigs in college dorms and house parties but very soon stepped up to the reputable festivals. The radio stations such as BBC Radio 1 and Radio X has recognised their potential and supported them. While MTV Rocks added videos for both songs into their music playlists. They released their new track ‘I Was Born’ in February this year which was the first taste of their second EP to be released later in the spring.
Chvrches – a name that has been referred to in musical circles with an exclamation mark for some time now. Synth Pop with subtle indien characteristics, this miraculous trio from Scotland have successfully taken the charts by storm. Their debut album from 2013, ‘The Bones of What You Believe’ has reached worldwide sales of over 500,000. To protect themselves from external influences for their second album ‘Every Eye Open’ (2015), they simply shut themselves in a basement studio in Glasgow. In less than two years they have played nearly 400 sold-out concerts around the world, which proves that they are a very sought after commodity.
