Skindred to re-release their second album Roots Rock Riot!
Thirteen years after its release, Welsh based group Skindred are proud and excited to announce the re-release of their second album Roots Rock Riot, including a first ever vinyl pressing. The album will be available on February 26th, 2021.
Written in the basement of a Newport boxing club, recorded in America and laying the groundwork for everything that followed it, Roots Rock Riot is an important piece of Skindred’s history. It was the first to feature what would become the band’s permanent line-up of Benji Webbe (vocals), Daniel Pugsley (bass), Mikey Demus (guitar) and Arya Goggin (drums). From starting its life as that ‘difficult second album’, what the record became now completely transcends that.
“I’m not one of those people who cheers when they’ve finished a record. But I’m always thankful to get to make my art, blending contemporary British music and Jamaican music, with my friends. On Roots Rock Riot I think we did that excellently. We’re really proud of the record. We had a hell of a lot of fun making it and it features some really important Skindred tracks. We hope you enjoy listening to this re-release as much as we enjoyed putting it together for you,” says singer Benji Webbe.
An exclusive 3-colour vinyl and some new merch bundles are available to pre-order now on the Skindred’s webstore, as well as a transparent orange version available as an indie stores exclusive and a transparent green version available everywhere.
In celebration of the re-release, all vinyl formats from the initial pressing will come with a bonus 7” containing two exclusive tracks – previously only featured on the Japanese edition, It’s A Crime, and previously unreleased, Struggle. The CD release also contains both those tracks plus an acoustic version of Destroy The Dance Floor.
