Sziget Festival will celebrate 25 years and announce first names for 2017!
After a record breaking edition in 2016 with almost half a million people from more than 100 countries coming together on the Island of Freedom, the countdown is now on for the 25th Anniversary edition in 2017.
Sziget festival was born as a result free and open-minded spirit surrounding the change of the political system in the early 90’s. Launching in 1993 as Diáksziget or Student Island, over the years festival grows into the international stage. The festival even achieved two Guinness world records and won European Festival Awards for the Best Major Festival (2012 and 2015) and Best Line Up (2016).
Taking place on a beautiful green island in the middle of Budapest from 9th – 16th August 2017 Sziget will once again welcome music and art lovers, open-minded people from all over the world to join them for a non-stop week of fun with more than 50 program venues where you can enjoy music, theatre, dance, art and much more.
“We want everyone who comes here to get more than what they expected, to find something unique in every second corner of the area, to feel special and free. Sziget can be different and more because it’s not just a music festival, but an international gathering, where you get to know so many different people and cultures, can attend dance and theatre programs, or just chill by the Danube,” says festival organizer Károly Gerendai.
Tickets to 25th edition of Sziget festival are sold at www.szigetfestival.com/tickets, until 31.12. for a discounted price 275€. Hundreds of acts and programs will be announced in the forthcoming months, now starting with 14 names, representing different genres and keeping the music line-up as colorful as always.
