Legendary leaders of dark anthemic music, with a career spanning two decades, Within Temptation, have signed a worldwide deal with Universal Music Germany, partnering with Spinefarm Records for North America and the UK. This joining of forces comes ahead of latest album Resist, scheduled for release on December 14th 2018.

With 6 studio albums under their belt and more than 3.5 million record sales to their name, Within Temptation are a genuine force to be reckoned with. Simply, one of the world’s most successful heavy rock groups. They has previously headlined all of the major festivals in Europe – Download, Hellfest, Wacken Open Air, Graspop and Woodstock Poland amongst other major events – and received numerous international awards, including a World Music Award, MTV Europe Music Awards, a Metal Hammer Award and many more.

Within Temptation’s 2014 release Hydra was a Top 10 album in ten different countries, hitting the #16 spot on the American Billboard chart, it was the band’s most successful US release to date, paving the way for a sold out tour. Bringing things right up to date, a headline European tour kicks off in October, consisting of 35 dates across 18 countries, with more shows around the globe to follow in 2019.

New album, Resist, marks a departure for the band. Primed with 10 anthemic tracks and driven by grand melodies and dark hooks, Resist puts a futuristic spin on the world of heavier music, both instrumentally and thematically.

“Resist is a true milestone for us. If it wasn’t for Resist, Within Temptation wouldn’t be here anymore. With this record, we’ve taken inspiration from modern music and given it a face – a very dark one. Sometimes it feels that today’s pop music lacks a rebellious edge. Our main goal was to collect pieces from sounds we did like then roughen the whole thing up as much as we could, allowing us to shape a new musical world that is heavier, dirtier and more futuristic than we’ve ever created before. Resist is our new take on metal; our way of giving a fresh lease of life to the rebellious edge of modern music,” continues Sharon den Adel.
